I think it is very interesting and ironic how the government has let the economy of the U.S. be sold off by laying the economic power of the nation in the hands of private corporations and organizations. They wonder about the monster of China which looms threatening U.S. economic hegemony(which was built in large part by the free reign given to corporations), and seem to fail to realize that U.S. corporations, which act out of international capitalist interests(which operate in many cases in their own interests), are not necessarily tied to the wellbeing of the home country. U.S. corporations have helped build the monster which lays rumbling in the East by following the $ trail of cheap labor and expanded markets. In one aspect it looks as if we shot ourselves in the foot.

Our livlihood is tied to the whims of private corporations - if the wind blows the wrong way, America, as we know it, is doomed.
