The plunder of Iraq's treasures
By Humberto Marquez

CARACAS - One million books, 10 million documents and 14,000 archaeological artifacts have been lost in the US-led invasion and subsequent occupation of Iraq - the biggest cultural disaster since the descendants of Genghis Khan destroyed Baghdad in 1258, Venezuelan writer Fernando Baez told Inter Press Service (IPS).

"US and Polish soldiers are still stealing treasures today and selling them across the borders with Jordan and Kuwait, where art merchants pay up to $57,000 for a Sumerian tablet," said Baez, who was interviewed during a brief visit to Caracas. (A Sumerian tablet is pictured at right.)

The expert on the destruction of libraries has helped document the devastation of cultural and religious objects in Iraq, where the ancient Mesopotamian kingdoms of Sumer, Akkad and Babylon emerged, giving it a reputation as the birthplace of civilization.

His inventory of the destruction and his denunciations that the coalition forces are violating the Hague Convention of 1954 on the protection of cultural heritage in times of war have earned him the enmity of Washington. Baez said he was refused a visa to enter the US to take part in conferences.

In addition, he has been barred from returning to Iraq "to carry out further investigations", he added. "But it's too late, because we already have documents, footage and photos that in time will serve as evidence of the atrocities committed," said Baez, the author of The Cultural Destruction of Iraq and A Universal History of the Destruction of Books, which were published in Spanish. . . .

2  GENERAL / General Board / The Nature of American Denial on: February 17, 2005, 02:34:55 PM
http://www.batr.org/gulag/012203.html

The Nature of American Denial

At the core of self delusion is the inability and/or the unwillingness of facing reality. While psychological disorders can often explain abnormal behavior in individuals, the exegesis for deviant social attitudes and accompanying conduct is reserved for society. Or so we are told! But does this make sense to you? As long as you accept that reality does exist and that it can be understood, it follows that we have the right, the ability and the obligation to comprehend it and adjust our actions accordingly.

Most Americans view, of their own personal identity, is inculcated by the political culture. Delmar England, in his provocative work - Mind and Matters, The World in a Mirror - offers this valuable insights into our mutual and shared condition: "In human affairs, as surely as effect is preceded by action, action is preceded by belief, and belief is preceded by thought and conclusions."

Applying this standard to politics Mr England depicts government is this fashion:

"For all the sidestepping, dance arounds, word games, and confused rhetoric, the term government is easily defined; not by subjective agreement, but by reference to objective reality and the actual entities involved. First, we know that there is no such thing as an infinite entity and that the term, government, necessarily denotes a relationship. The actual entities involved are human individuals. The base options of relationships between individuals are non-initiation of force and non-coercion, or initiation of force and coercion. It makes no difference how many different subjective labels are put upon the situation, the objective fact remains that at the root of it all, these are the only two options. The former is in recognition of the individual as a self-owned entity. The latter is based on the idea of an individual being the property of an "infinite entity"; which is the "justification" for rule by the individuals who hide behind the abstracts and exercise their will to dominate and control all others."

"The subjective and arbitrary labels arbitrarily associated with government such as democracy, socialism, communism, etc. are purely for the purpose of self-delusion. Although form of implementation may vary and some versions start closer to ultimate self-destruction than other versions, the common and identifying objective content of each and every one is initiation of force and coercion. Millions may volunteer for such an anti-social system and play self-deluding word games for the sake of preferred self-image, but all the pretense in the world and "definitions by agreement" will not erase the truth about government, nor prevent the certain violent consequences of initiation of force and coercion."

No doubt, this is a correct assessment. Virtually every society and country operates with the implied and universal acceptance that government is natural and ordained. The individual accepts force and coercion as a substitute for avoiding the risk and responsibility of personal Freedom. MindMatters concludes with this point:

"Rather than freedom being the highest value sought by most, it is their deepest and most abiding fear. So much so that they can't even envision it."

American denial has caused an epidemic dysfunctional confusion. The delusion that our own self identify is equivalent with the "collective will" of society; which, in turn is synonymous with the government and its policies, is a sociopathic sickness. The antisocial behavior of the STATE demonstrates all the characteristics of a profile of a sociopath. Apply the top five to the demeanor of government: Glibness/Superficial Charm - Manipulative and Conning - Grandiose Sense of Self - Pathological Lying - Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt. We are all taught what we should believe about government; but only the fool, the liar or the delusional accepts that our - self-owned entity - benefits from the force and coercion that the State demands upon us.

Robert L. Kocher has compiled a body of works far too numerous, on this topic to cite sufficiently. We urge you to review and absorb the wisdom in his insights. Most of the lessons detail the last administration, but are completely relevant to the current regime. One essay, especially compliments the Delmar England conclusion. Mr Kocher writes in American Mental Health and Politics:

"If some of us are appalled, frightened, and even driven half crazy by the maddeningly and complacently silly or psychotic levels of denial, by the superficiality, by the abysmal immaturity, by the primitive level of personality structure, by the too-easily employed distorted rationalizations, by the lack of contact with basic reality that we deal with in our daily lives, hear in our college faculties, and see on TV and in high political office, we can nevertheless know that the reality of our perceptions is validated by mental health figures as well as those patients being seen in therapist's offices."

Currently, the national mood is absorbed in the illusion that Americans are at risk and that they are in danger from terrorists abroad. While reality demonstrates that enemies of America are plentiful, the disconnect that their veridical hatred is focused upon the U.S. Government and its policies, is concealed. Vast numbers of Americans feed their denial that they are the target of madmen; while they seek comfort in the fallacy that support for the WAR Party will make them safe. The force and coercion that the government imposes upon you, under the pretext that it is necessary and protective, diminishes your safety as it destroys your Liberty. The utter fraud of national security policy, seeks only to preserve the government, no matter how much harm it inflictes upon citizens.

So why do so many misguided flag-waving zealots rally to a jingoistic cause? Kocher provides the answer: "We now live in a society where many people no longer want or value freedom. Personal freedom and the responsibility that goes with it are abrasive intrusions or demands upon a crippled self-absorbed internal state."

"American Denial" prevents the admission that U.S. policies only benefit the government. Their own personal delusional perceptions are interchangeable with a phony litmus test, judged by their support for State illusions. The thought of exercising the Freedom to think, criticize, condemn and resist is far too disconcerting to the sheeple. They view their own self worth as an adjunct of an abstract deception; while, the true motives of the government are to control society and all individuals, using force and coercion. Both England and Kocher have it right. The association between an individual and an infinite entity denotes a relationship; and the reluctance or unwillingness to exercise freedom and responsibility, allows the government to implement force and coercion.

"Eternal Vigilance" is no longer enough to preserve Liberty. Sound mental health, appreciation for your own self worth, trust in the integrity of reality and the courage to do battle with the forces that seek to delude your own dignity are all necessary to win this struggle. America is NOT the Government. When policies are dishonest they must be opposed. When officials are depraved they need to be removed. And when your neighbor demands your allegiance to a corrupt government, it is your duty to confront his delusion.

We can no longer afford to be silent in the face of "American Denial".

3  GENERAL / Quotes / re: A white person & pro black do they mix? on: February 16, 2005, 06:00:30 PM
"I think the point being driven home is that culturally and from a personalized experience of sufferation and downpression, the white person who comes foward amongst InI; lacks the vision, overstanding and creativity for leadership or a certain self actualisaion that is organically sui generis in epistemology. In such a situation as in any learning process things constantly have to be explained, clarified and regurgitated; which can be oftentimes draining for the black person.

Hence as a cultural actor, a white person has to be constantly getting feedback and explanations as different phenomenon and situations occur. This is in order for the white person to make the most appropriate decision while maintaining the proper perspective. Without the aforesaid, helping becomes counter productive or detrimental for those on the receiving end. It is quite hard if not impossible for a white person mixed in the melieu of White Supremacy to break free of these institutional mega-structures and other imposing programings manifested in the environment. A monsterous system for and by the white man. Which son would deny such an inheritance? Even if and when denied by an individual. It is imposed by the super structure from without. And the fear of Babylon desTROYED? And replace it with what? Yes, the VISION. It is the man made machine versus EDEN; the Jahmek machine. I hope I struck the hammer while the fyah was HOT."

A Century Of War : Anglo-American Oil Politics and the New World Order

The Truth is Out There, March 25, 2004
Reviewer:    Craig Stern (Flagstaff, AZ USA) - See all my reviews

I first ran across this book referenced in a footnote about three years ago and tried to track it down. First I tried to purchase it, but found that it was out of print and used copies were going for $100.00+ on the internet. I found this curious since it was relatively recent (1993) and, given its topic, was certainly of tremendous interest to US readers, even before the events of 9/11 and the subsequent Gulf War II. I was fortunate to find it in my university library and have since read it several times.

I am tempted to go 'on and on' about this book, especially since it is not easily available for people to read. Nor does anyone seem to feel that they can (or are able to?) republish what should be a 'best seller' in the current geopolitical climate and circumstances. Engdahl, whose personal background includes engineering and law (Princeton), working in Texas oil industry, and international economics (University of Stockholm), does a penetrating and eloquent job of sorting out the complex web that connects the controlling interests of international politics with the goals and objectives of global oil and financial interests, these having merged in the last century into the powerful and dominant hegemony of an Anglo-American consortium.

There are so many revelations that are so well documented that one has to slow down and completely reorientate his or her conception of and attitude toward recent history. His tone is neither particularly vindictive nor is it conspiratorial. It looks at people and events and provides plausible motives and methods that are not part of the conventional awareness. For example, (fact) the British navy decided in the late 19th century to change their primary fuel source from coal to oil, thereby (objective) needing to secure access to oil reserves, basically in perpetuity. (result) British agreements for oil resources with the Sheikh of Kuwait date from 1899. (fact) Oil then comes to supplant coal as the primary energy source for all of the industrializing world, and a decade later Germany threatens to become the leading industrialized nation in Europe and (objective) needs a secure source of oil, so they begin construction on the Berlin to Baghdad railway intending to capitalize on agreements to import Iraqi oil. (question) How does Britain meet this emerging geopolitical threat. (objective) Block Germany's access to Middle East oil. (result) Curiously WWI begins with an out-of-the-way assassination in Croatia that just happens to occur near the route of that railway. War ensues and not only is the B-to-B railway cut off, but Germany loses all colonial power in the Middle East.

Shortly after WWI the leaders of the seven major western oil companies meet and agree to not compete with each other but to cooperate, and in 1928 drew up the Red Line agreement that gave virtually control of virtually all Middle East oil to the Anglo-American cartel. Even France's portion was minimalized to Turkish reserves. The Anglo-American consortium came to be known as the Seven Sisters and over the course of the ensuing decades become more and more infused with global banking and financial interestes, i.e., Rockefeller, J.P.Morgan, the Warburgs, the Rotheschilds, Brown Harriman, etc., coming to dominate the world economy by controlling the primary energy source. It is "all about oil" and has been since the turn of the century.

Engdahl's references are extensive and substantiate his disturbing interpretation of history, like the intentional suppression of the German Mark after WWI and the intentional manipulation of the OPEC oil embargo of the 1970s as a premise to artificially inflate global energy costs (a Bilderberg target objective), thereby making BritPetr North Sea oil exploration efforts solvent and bankrupting the debt burdened Third World.

Engdahl's revelatory insights go up through Gulf War I and one can only speculate as to his thoughts on the current Bush administration's economic/tax policies, the Iraq intervention, and their relationship to consolidating control of the global economy into the hands of a few staggeringly wealthy individuals and corporations. This book should be IN PRINT and TODAY! --This text refers to the Paperback edition

Book Review: The Empire Has No Clothes

The Empire Has No Clothes: U.S. Foreign Policy Exposed
By Ivan Eland
The Independent Institute, 294 pages, 2004

Reviewed by Robert C. Cheeks

President Bush’s Inaugural Address presents a bold approach to foreign policy that many pundits are calling Wilsonian, referring to President Woodrow Wilson’s utopian dream of ending war and bringing peace on a global scale. But a recent book by Dr. Ivan Eland, The Empire Has No Clothes, reminds us of the price of Wilsonian idealism.

Eland accurately points out that President Wilson’s successful effort to draw the United States into World War I, which was supposed to be “the war to end all wars,” had the deleterious effect of destroying the established European order, and resulted in the rise of both Adolph Hitler and Joseph Stalin. The Twentieth century’s butcher’s bill, because of Wilson’s “progressivism,” would be over 150 million dead.

And now, given the linkage between the massacre of 9/11 (as well as a twenty years of Islamic terrorist’s attacks on the “West”), the Iraq incursion, and the so-called “War on Terror,” the future remains nebulous. Bush’s vision may prove prophetic, or may be a disaster. But we know this: any policy that advocates foreign interventionism is a violation of the first principles of our republic.

The author’s historical overview touches on the failed empires of Greece, Rome, Germany, the Soviet Union, Great Britain, and Japan. He goes to great length in explaining the cost to citizens, in lives, wealth, and liberty, that results when government devolves from a federated republic, to a social democracy, to an imperialist power.

Eland’s book outlines this “devolution” of the United States. Our founding was predicated on the concept of a federated republic. Political power was purposefully diffused because the founders understood the intrinsic “nature of man,” i.e. they feared those who would “consolidate” power in the national government. The Constitution they provided very specifically defines the general government, details its enumerated powers, and with the addition of that delightful codicil, The Bill of Rights, leaves the bulk of power (not to mention sovereignty) in the hands of the states and the people. But the election of Abraham Lincoln, with his proclivity to usurp undelegated power, and the ensuing war that silenced the last of the “conservative” Americans, brought a sea change in American government that, in effect, laid the groundwork for not only an “imperial” presidency but also a social democracy.

By the end of the Nineteenth Century some corporate interests (railroads for example) were in collusion with the government at the expense of the taxpayers, and Progressives and liberals clamored for government regulation, adding the spurious allegation that certain corporations (Rockefeller and Carnegie) were engaged in “predatory pricing.” So government was enlisted to “help the little guy.” To say their efforts were a failure would be a bit of an understatement, but they did succeed in expanding the authority of the central government and its bureaucratic apparatus. And they established a precedent: the government would now oversee the welfare of the people.

The expansion of “social democracy” occurred simultaneously with rise to the imperial state. Lincoln set the ground work. President McKinley took us overseas with the Spanish/American War. Woodrow Wilson, ably supported by “liberal” Protestant clerics, intervened in Europe’s war in a vein effort to bring on a “New World Order.” Franklin Roosevelt expanded the power of the presidency and the federal bureaucracy, and is often accused of manipulating America’s entry in to World War Two.

But President Harry Truman was the first president to simply bypassed Congress and declared war on North Korea, although Congress didn’t seem to care all that much. I’m sure you’re familiar with the rest of our imperial history: Vietnam, Cambodia, Grenada, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Gulf I, Bosnia, Kosovo, Haiti, and now, Iraq. All of these military actions were ordered by the President of the United States without benefit of a Congressional declaration of war, in violation of the Constitution.

Dr. Eland spares neither the Democrats nor the Republicans, arguing that both parties, at least since the presidency of William McKinley, have engaged in the same virulent, nasty, heavy-handed, and addlepated foreign policy that has resulted in what revisionist historian, Harry Elmer Barnes, referred to as “perpetual war for perpetual peace.” Both parties have ignored the prescient warnings of the founders who spoke loudly against foreign interventions and entanglements, and the cost in lives and treasure have been enormous.

Eland’s two chapters Why Conservatives Should Be Against Empire, and Why Liberals Should Be Against Empire, are in-depth analysis of the philosophical foundations of these disparate ideologies and the application of their principles to the question of empire. The author takes delight in tweaking the nose of those liberals who remained hypocritically silent during President Clinton’s incursions in Bosnia, Kosovo, and Haiti, and the anti-empire conservatives who kept silent while the current President Bush invaded Iraq. Unfortunately, many Americans assume that the opposition to American interventionism is a “liberal” activity. Not so! An element of the “conservative” right has also engaged in opposition. Here I’m referring to the paleo-conservatives, who many argue are the last remaining conservatives in American politics.

Twenty-five years ago the paleocons almost won a seat in the halls of government but were denied when the Reagan Administration rejected the nomination of the brilliant Southern traditionalist, M.E. Bradford, as the Director of the National Endowment for the Humanities. In the ensuing fight they were crushed by the much better funded neocons and cast out of Washington. Later the paleocons and the Libertarians engaged in a messy, internecine, squabble and divorced.

Neocons moved into, and increasingly controled the Republican Party, while the paleocons retreated to the provinces to continue the fight, producing what many argue is the finest intellectual magazine in America, Chronicles. While paleocons look upon “liberals” with disdain, considering them uninformed, naďve, and misguided, they reserve their greatest antipathy for the despised neocons. For the neocons know the “truth” and have rejected it, opting instead for a virulent statist regime that seeks to create a “New World Order,” all of which violates the first principles of the republic. This cannot be forgiven, and the fight will not stop until the last paleocon has drawn his last breath. However, the opposition to the administration’s interventionist policies, be it left or right, have proved less then efficacious, and Dr. Eland tells us why.

Contemporary American interventionism may be the result of “public choice theory.” Eland writes that “the government itself can develop interests separate from its citizens. The government reflects the interests of powerful pressure groups and the interests of the bureaucracies and the bureaucrats in them.” Dr. Eland further explains, “Despite the risk of blowback attacks on Americans at home and abroad, the interests of the government, the foreign policy elite, and other pressure groups are furthered by an interventionist foreign policy to maintain the American empire.”

American interventionism is also the direct result of our federal legislature’s abnegation of constitutional responsibilities, namely its obligation to vote on the question of war. The author covers in detail this failure and the resulting rise of the “imperial” presidency in some detail, beginning with President Truman’s Korean “police action.”

Eland writes, “Conservatives should be against an American empire, because war is the primary cause of big government, including government encroachment in non-security related areas.” He provides a statistic that is singularly telling, “The United States is already overextended, accounting for almost 40 percent of the world’s military spending but possessing only little more than 30 percent of global GDP.” In effect, the American government has made the American taxpayer responsible for the military protection of Europe, Japan, and much of the globe.

Dr. Eland argues that the American interventionist foreign policy requires an imperial presidency that has resulted in a distortion of republican principles and weakened individual liberties. The same policy also underscores the inherent weaknesses in the “two-party” system: a political arrangement that has devolved into “one party,” at least in matters of foreign policy. America desperately needs a viable third, fourth, or even fifth party that will challenge the political power now held by the ‘Remocrats’ and ‘Depublicans.’ But the truth is our people have become politically ignorant and lazy, and it isn’t likely that the citizenry will return, any time soon, to republican principles.

Dr. Ivan Eland’s book, The Empire Has No Clothes, is an evocative and forceful argument for America to engage in a more restrained and farsighted foreign policy. Dr. Eland writes from a lifetime of foreign policy experience. He has worked as Investigator for the House Foreign Affairs Committee, the Principal Defense Analyst at the Congressional Budge Office, and was the Director of Defense Policy Studies at the Cato Institute. He is now the Senior Fellow and Director, Center on Peace and Liberty, The Independent Institute.

Dr. Eland’s book offers his readers a dichotomy; we can either continue with an interventionist policy that has resulted in massive American casualties, the threat of “blowback” attacks punitive taxes, a decline of individual liberties, and the loss of the moral imperative or we can adhere to the doctrine of the founders and avoid foreign alliances and entanglements.

Georgia is stunned by top politicians' deaths

CHRISTOPHER CLARE

GEORGIA was yesterday plunged into crisis after it was revealed a political associate of dead prime minister Zurab Zhvania had apparently committed suicide.

There were fears of a return to the old Soviet ways of dispensing with political foes by alleged accident or suicide after the third death in the government in as many days.

Zhvania, a moderating force in the Georgian government, and a colleague died apparently of carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a faulty heater last week.

Georgy Khelashvili, 32, a political associate of Zhvania, was found dead at his home of a gunshot wound on Friday night, a Tbilisi police official, Irakli Pirkhalala, said yesterday. Khelashvili was a member of the presidential commission on pardons and part of Zhvania’s United Democrats political bloc.

But within hours of the announcement of the suicide, officials changed the story and said Khelashvili was not known by the dead prime minister and had in fact held a low civil service position.

Pirkhalala said Khelashvili shot himself with a hunting rifle that he had borrowed from a neighbour on the pretext of taking a hunting trip. He left a note asking for forgiveness, Pirkhalala said. "He left a note to his family and wrote the sort of thing people write when they commit suicide," he said.

Though there was no immediate indication that the suicide was connected to Zhvania’s death on Thursday, it is likely to add to the uneasy suspicions plaguing Georgians after the passing of the widely respected prime minister.

Even before the suicide of Khelashvili, many Georgians wondered whether the authorities were telling them the truth. Georgia has a history of political intrigue and violence.

Historian Grigory Dardzhanian said: "There were plenty of people who envied Zurab, many were hoping that a conflict would break out between him and the president."

Zhvania’s death has sparked concerns among South Ossetian and Abkhaz leaders, who suspect the president, Mikhail Saakashvili, may resort to military force in order to restore Georgia’s territorial integrity.

There are particular worries in South Ossetia about Okruashvili, whom separatists blame for triggering a series of armed clashes last summer while he was interior minister. Concerns about the consequences of Zhvania’s death have also been heard in Russia, which supports both secessionist governments.

During the Rose Revolution two years ago Georgians took to the streets to overthrow the last vestiges of the old Soviet guard. The popular and peaceful uprising led to the resignation of Eduard Shevardnadze and a new dawn in the former Soviet republic’s politics.

Officials confirmed on Friday that Zhvania died of carbon-monoxide poisoning apparently as a result of an improperly ventilated space heater at the apartment of a friend, who also died.

Meanwhile, Georgians continued to grapple with Zhvania’s sudden death and its implications for the country’s reform efforts. Zhvania, who was 41, was a key figure in attempts to lift the country out of its post-Soviet economic collapse and political turmoil. He was also one of the leaders of the Rose Revolution.

He earned deep respect and affection and was seen as a moderating balance to the sometimes incendiary boldness of Saakashvili, who was elected president in 2004.

Mourner Ksenia Kuparadze, a 70-year-old pensioner outside the apartment of Zhvania’s grieving mother, where the body was brought on Thursday, said: "After the Rose Revolution, when the country was in complete collapse, he was able to get us out of economic difficulties. Teachers started getting paid on time, pensioners got their pensions."

Zhvania’s body was due to be moved from his mother’s home last night to Tbilisi’s Holy Trinity Cathedral, where a funeral will be held today.

Authorities have called his death an accident, another of the many carbon-monoxide poisonings that have troubled the capital since its central-heating system went out of service in 1992

The Thirteenth Tribe

The Khazar Empire and its Heritage

Arthur Koestler

This book traces the history of the ancient Khazar Empire, a major but almost forgotten power in Eastern Europe, which in A.D. 740 converted to Judaism. Khazaria, a conglomerate of Aryan Turkish tribes, was finally wiped out by the forces of Genghis Han, but evidence indicates that the Khazars themselves migrated to Poland and formed the craddle of Western (Ashkenazim) Jewry...
The Khazars' sway extended from the Black sea to the Caspian, from the Caucasus to the Volga, and they were instrumental in stopping the Muslim onslaught against Byzantium, the eastern jaw of the gigantic pincer movement that in the West swept across northern Africa and into Spain.
Thereafter the Khazars found themselves in a precarious position between the two major world powers: the Eastern Roman Empire in Byzantium and the triumphant followers of Mohammed. As Arthur Koestler points out, the Khazars were the Third World of their day, and they chose a surprising method of resisting both the Western pressure to become Christian and the Eastern to adopt Islam. Rejecting both, they converted to Judaism.
The second part of Mr. Koestler's book deals with the Khazar migration to Polish and Lithuanian territories, caused by the Mongol onslaught, and their impact on the racial composition and social heritage of modern Jewry. He produces a large body of meticulously detailed research in support of a theory that sounds all the more convincing for the restraint with which it is advanced.
Mr. Koestler concludes: "The evidence presented in the previous chapters adds up to a strong case in favour of those modern historians - whether Austrian, Israeli or Polish - who, independently from each other, have argued that the bulk of modern Jewry is not of Palestinian, but of Caucasian origin. The mainstream of Jewish migrations did not flow from the Mediterranean across France and Germany to the east and then back again. The stream moved in a consistently westerly direction, from the Caucasus through the Ukraine into Poland and thence into Central Europe. When that unprecedented mass settlement in Poland came into being, there were simply not enough Jews around in the west to account for it, while in the east a whole nation was on the move to new frontiers" ( page 179, page 180).
"The Jews of our times fall into two main divisions: Sephardim and Ashkenazim.
The Sephardim are descendants of the Jews who since antiquity had lived in Spain (in Hebrew Sepharad) until they were expelled at the end of the fifteenth century and settled in the countries bordering the Mediterranean, the Balkans, and to a lesser extent in Western Europe. They spoke a Spanish-Hebrew dialect, Ladino, and preserved their own traditions and religious rites. In the 1960s, the number of Sephardim was estimated at 500000.
The Ashkenazim, at the same period, numbered about eleven million. Thus, in common parlance, Jew is practically synonymous with Ashkenazi Jew." ( page 181).
In Mr. Koestler's own words, "The story of the Khazar Empire, as it slowly emerges from the past, begins to look like the most cruel hoax which history has ever perpetrated."

Mr. Koestler was an Ashkenazi Jew and took pride in his Khazar ancestry. He was also a very talented and successful writer who published over 25 novels and essays. His most successful book, Darkness at Noon, was translated in thirty-three languages.

As expected, The Thirteenth Tribe caused a stir when published in 1976, since it demolishes ancient racial and ethnic dogmas...At the height of the controversy in 1983, the lifeless bodies of Arthur Koestler and his wife were found in their London home. Despite significant inconsistencies, the police ruled their death a suicide...

Their reward was to have control of a temple state which collected taxes for Persia. Only priests of the temple state were Jews—a nation of priests. The history of the Jews was invented from Assyrian records and imagination, to show the native people as apostates who had to obey God diligently to atone for their past failings."

15  GENERAL / Rogues Gallery / "Tsunami Song" A new low. on: January 27, 2005, 07:06:51 PM

To:  Hot 97 Radio Station in NYC
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

On January 21st, 2005, an offensive song/skit containing openly derogatory and racist overtones reached millions of listeners in New York City when it was broadcast on Hot 97's "Miss Jones in the Morning" radio show. While the radio show has a history of recording and playing such spoofs on a regular basis, the infamous "Tsunami Song" mocks not only the victims of the unfortunate recent natural disaster in Southeast Asia, but also all members of the Asian race in general with the racial slurs "chink" and "Chinamen."

Choice lyrics included:
- "All at once you could hear the screaming ch*nks and no one was safe from the wave there were africans drowning, little chinamen swept away you could hear god laughing, 'swim you b*tches swim'"
- "So now you're screwed, it's the Tsunami, you better run or kiss your ass away, go find your mommy, I just saw her float by, a tree went through her head, and now the children will be sold to child slavery..."

Just prior to the broadcasting of this inflammatory and extremely distasteful audio, the airwaves erupted into hostility when the popular morning show's hosts argued about playing the "Tsunami Song." The on-air quarrel started when Miss Info openly voiced that she had no involvement with either the production or publication of the song, as she personally found the views expressed in the song offensive. The show's other two co-hosts Miss Jones and Todd Lynn then launched into an abusive tirade against Miss Info for her lack of co-operation. At one point, Todd Lynn stated that he was going to start shooting Asians while Miss Jones told Info she's only complaining because "you feel superior, probably because you're Asian. . . . "
